May 7, 2017wp-himu0 Comments

Comment Spam on wordpress blog means the comments on your blog that you proud to have may be fake or SPAM. They might not been left by a human. Spammers leave comments on your blog to get a backlinks and they don’t really care what they are getting and from where as they are getting it for free. To through bulk comments on all random or specific blogs they uses scripts (spambot) that completely automates their spamming process, sometimes you also get more customized and better quality improved spam comment on your blog due to humans involvement.

When you don’t protect your blog against these spam comment you can expect to get 100X comments on your blog than usual comments. Most bloggers who don’t have taken any measures against these spam comment usually wastes their time to filter and recognize these spam. So here are my tips to automatically stop comment spam (on your wordpress blog).

The Captcha Plugin

“The The captcha” is a nice wordpress plugin that stops spambots and all scripts (automatic comment spam) by placing a captcha difficulty in comment section. This is really a difficult task for any spambot to read numbers and characters from an image and put them correctly in the captcha box. The plugin works well but after installing it I found a certain drop in no. of real comments as this plugin discourages some commenters, it wasn’t much user friendly so I dropped this plugin for better solution.

Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin (G.A.S.P)

This plugin is very user friendly and it only asks the user to tick a checkbox that says “I am Not a Spammer” and all spambot usually miss this anti-spam measure and never gets success to leave a comment. Also, this plugin never discourages readers to put a comment and stops spam comment effectively and smartly.

Akismet – Checks if Spam or Not!

Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not and lets you review the spam it catches under your blog’s “Comments” admin screen. A lot of bloggers trust Akismet plugin to stop spam comment on their blogs. Akismet comes by default in wordpress blog package. So, you can also consider using it.

Remove Commentluv Plugin

Everyone knows about commentluv, if you really want to stop spam comments on your blog I‘ll suggest you to stop using commentluv on your blog. Comment says “Reward your readers by automatically placing a link to their last blog post at the end of their comment.” But sometimes this strategy do not works for you and creates spam problem.

My 100% Proven method!

Sometimes it happens, nothing works… when you are the target of spammers you need something that really works and for this you can just remove the website URL text box from comment section so that no one can leave his/her website URI and if someone leaves a link in between comment then just mark it as spam.

No one will now see the URL box but even if you found a comment with URL then it surely a spam comment left by spambot. You should also know how to Check if a Comment is Spam or Not?

Conclusion – How to stop comment spam?

No matter whoever you’re and whatever your website or blog is all about. You can easily spam get comment. So you must have at least G.A.S.P plugin to stop comment spam.
