I am currently monetizing this blog with google adsense and also offer other types of advertising to earn a little more. Google Adsense is surely the best ad network for all small and medium size blogs, as well as big blogs also like Google Adsense. Everyone wants to use adsense because of its high CPC and great potential, but due to some reasons everyone can’t stay longer with them as their strict policies or nature of terminating account for suspicious activity makes the publisher to think about some alternatives. I also tried some alternatives on this blog to find out how they perform on low traffic blogs.
Most of these alternatives are complementary to Adsense that means you can use them with adsense on same blog. Some bloggers use combination of these ads on same blog for better results/earnings.
Infolinks – The well known #1 Adsense Alternative
I searched for best adsense alternative and found most of publishers were referring to infolinks as #1 Google adsense alternative so I decided to try it out. The best think about Infolinks is that they approve everyone, even new blogs but the minimum payout is $50 via paypal. Here’s an image for my earning on this blog.
As you can see from my stats that my earning is next to nothing and therefore I decided it’s better to have no ads on my blog than having a few cents. One more thing these text ads appear on a sky blue balloon that loads slowly and looks nasty but I have to say that these ads use to be Genuine (unlike chitika who display useless links).
At Infolinks I noticed that for medium and big blogs it work well.
Chitika Ads – $10 Minimum threshold Text Ads
The most interesting thing I like about Chitika ads is that they have a minimum payout of $10 only via paypal, a good choice for small blogs but hold on! I applied for chitika ads they approved my blog in a couple of days and then I placed ads on this site. I got some clicks and found CPC to be $0.01 and sometimes even $0.00. The CPC was very disappointing and I then investigate that they display such ads on our blog that redirect the clicker (reader who clicked on the ad) to their webpage having sponsored ads and sometimes google ads. So they pay us a small part of their earning that they receive from their ad network (after deducting all commissions). Suppose the advertiser paid $0.3 CPC then Chitika used to get $0.2 and they pay us $0.1-$0.7.
At chitika I noticed that for medium and big blogs it display genuine ads and CPC is a little higher.
I Never used Bidvertiser and I don’t think I will user them ever. Akash Navi has already used them on his blog and got some poor results here is a Bidvertiser Review.
Media.net – Yahoo Ads Publisher
I think in coming years media.net can prove to be the best adsense alternative. A few weeks ago I find other bloggers displaying yahoo ads and I was shocked to see that I wasn’t aware of these ads and in a few minutes I find media.net displaying yahoo ads I didn’t found any review but decided to apply for that. Due to too many applications that they are receiving they are 2 weeks behind but finally I got my yahoo ads. I configured them and displayed them.
I was impressed to see the CPM. The CPM was $2.0 and for some particular ad unit CPM was $3.9. Then I found some reviews and chat on internet that media.net is paying $2.0 CPM to everyone and after a week it gets $0.0. I waited for 2 weeks to see the change and then on the 8th day I earned $0.00. So what? I removed them after 30 days because I was losing my google adsense earnings.
Media.net is surely a good ad network but it needs some time with yahoo ads to pay like adsense. I hope in next 2 years it will be a google adsense competitor. Media.net minimum payout is $100 via Paypal.
Conclusion – What to Choose?
Google Adsense alternatives do not work for small publishers. Google Adsense is best ad network on earth today, try getting approved for adsense.
The common thing with these adsense alternatives is that they work great for medium and big size traffic blogs, so try getting more traffic to your blog (by building more quality content).
Adbrite ad network already gone bankrupt and that’s why you must always choose reliable ad networks. Therefore, STOP looking for alternatives. Just go to your website and built quality content, do proper SEO and the traffic will surely come.
